Health, Hope, and His Restoring Love

One of the blessings of camp meeting is the chance to slow down long enough to hear God’s voice speaking into every part of our lives, including our health. One of this week’s sessions reminded us that God’s love is not only redemptive but restorative. He cares for the whole person, and He invites us to live in harmony with the principles He designed for our flourishing.
Monday’s lecture on diabetes and neuropathy opened with an unfortunate reality for many: “Approximately 50% of people in the U.S. have either diabetes or prediabetes.” Yet the message was not one of despair, but of hope. We learned that the core driver of Type 2 diabetes is not sugar itself, but “the accumulation of fat inside muscle cells,” which blocks insulin from doing its work. Even more encouraging was the evidence showing how quickly the body responds when we shift toward whole‑plant foods. Insulin resistance can begin “within 60 minutes after a single fatty meal,” but improvement begins just as quickly when saturated fats are reduced and fiber‑rich foods like oatmeal and beans are increased. One case study showed insulin needs dropping from 205 to 42 units in two days. And in a Weimar program, 80% of neuropathy patients experienced complete pain reversal in 25 days through restored microcirculation.
In Tuesday’s session, Popular Diets and the Adventist Advantage, will broaden the scope of the conversation. Dr. Tryon and Dr. Beckworth will compare keto, Mediterranean diets, intermittent fasting, and plant‑based patterns, highlighting why Adventists consistently experience lower rates of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. The Adventist Health Studies show a clear, stepwise benefit: the more plant‑forward the diet, the lower the disease risk. This is not merely nutritional science; it is a living testimony to God’s original design.
As camp meeting continues, we warmly invite you to attend the remaining presentations — from hydrotherapy to musculoskeletal pain to Friday’s spiritual capstone, From Health to Him. Come learn, grow, and experience the God who heals through community, lifestyle, and His abiding love.
Dr. Randy Tryon and Dr. Jeremy Beckworth share a passion for whole‑person healing blending evidence‑based medicine with a Christ‑centered approach to hope and restoration.
