Unlocking the Secrets to Better Health

More than 175 attendees of various ages filled the lower level of Harrell Center to listen to David Meinz, a registered dietician nutritionist. The audience was enthralled with his engaging storytelling and extensive health knowledge.

During his presentation today, Meinz focused on the leading causes of unexpected death, particularly strokes and heart attacks. To emphasize his points, he shared examples of well-known individuals. His talk was also accompanied by explanatory slides, short intriguing videos, and handouts.

Meinz emphasized the significance of individual health and stressed that there is no universal solution for everyone. He also elaborated on the carotid intima-media thickness test (CIMT), a helpful tool for identifying certain health issues. Meinz brought with him a technician and specialized equipment to

test for arterial inflammation. Attendees can register for this test, available for $179, at the health seminars this week.

During his presentation, Meinz also held a drawing for one of his books. Aleja Osorio, a member of a

Hispanic group in Lancaster, S.C., was the winner of the drawing. “The presentation was marvelous,” Osorio said. “Before he gave the book away, I prayed that I would win. I was shocked that God answered my prayer so quickly.”

Tomorrow Meinz will continue his health seminar by focusing on the topic of vitamins.
