The annual Memorial Day tribute is one of the favorite nights at Camp Meeting for the attendees. This is a time when all of us can take time to not just honor our veterans and current service
men and women, but to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. Elder Leslie Louis also took time to honor the family members of those who have lost someone in the line of duty.
As the color guard was presented, Natasha (Hildebran) Perez belted out the National Anthem. Everyone was silent in respect, and all you could hear were the shoes of the color guard as they walked through the auditorium with Perez’s voice ringing out.
After the National Anthem was finished, Elder Louis led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by having each branch of the service stand as the congregation acknowledged each of them. The Carolina Conference also presented them with a medallion in appreciation.
The evening also featured a moving slideshow of historical and recent photos of service members in action, accompanied by heartfelt music, further reminding us of the sacrifices made. Next time you
see a member of our armed forces, please take a moment and thank them for their service.
