Today I had the joy of exploring many beautiful places around Lake Junaluska. From tranquil gardens to cozy cafés, this spot offers a unique mix of nature, faith, and recreation. Here’s a quick look at what I experienced.

I started at the Bethea Welcome Center, located at the entrance of North Lakeshore Drive. With rocking chairs, animal statues, and a panoramic view of the lake, it’s a peaceful place to begin your visit. Next to it is the Biblical Garden, a quiet spot filled with scripture-based landscaping. Inside, you’ll find restrooms, a water fountain, an ATM, and friendly staff offering maps and campus guides. The center also features a small but meaningful Native American artifact display, adding a thoughtful cultural element to your visit. Nearby is the Open Air Gym, the meeting point for the upcoming Run4Life 5K  and Fun Run on Friday, May 30, at 8 a.m.

Next, I visited the Lake Junaluska Golf Course, just two minutes away. The course features 5,034 yards of play, beautiful lake views, and nine holes ranging from 93 to 260 yards. Prices include tax and gear—$38 for nine holes or $58 for 18. The course has a clean, family-friendly atmosphere with a pro shop full of gear and apparel.

A delicious stop came next at Crepe & Custard, located beside the Fitness Center. This cozy, nautical-themed café serves sweet and savory crepes, frozen custard, and both hot and cold drinks. Their pet-friendly patio and menu variety—including gluten-free and vegetarian options—make it a great spot for a relaxing break.

A hidden gem was the Corneille Bryan Native Garden, near The Landing Inn. With labeled plant guides, stone benches, and a gently flowing creek, this peaceful trail offered a perfect moment of rest and reflection.

Back at Harrell Center, I visited Junaluska Gifts & Grounds, a charming shop with books, home décor, drinks, and pastries. A cozy reading nook in the back added to its inviting feel. Just outside the shop, the Exhibition Hall was buzzing with booths from ministries across the Adventist network—highlighting local and global outreach efforts.

Whether you’re here for worship, rest, or adventure, Lake Junaluska offers something for everyone. Make time to explore—it’s well worth the walk.
