More of You, Less of Me

The Earliteen program, guided by the theme “More of You, Less of Me,” drew inspiration from the Gospel of Mark, exploring the profound narratives within its 16 chapters. Pastor Bryan Arvelo, pastor of Monroe Spanish SDA Church, Evans Correctional SDA Mission Group, Rockingham Spanish SDA Church, and Rockingham Cornerstone SDA Church, shared concrete examples from his own life where he had to refocus his mind on God. Each chapter of Mark served as a foundation for daily activities, fostering an environment where small groups could delve into interactive discussions and personal testimonies.

The week began with an adventurous photo scavenger hunt on Monday, igniting the spirit of camaraderie among participants. The ‘Lost Marble Search and Rescue’ was a highlight, transforming the picturesque landscape of Junaluska into a playground where teams worked together to locate hidden marbles, rescuing them from the hidden depths. The adventure continued with a day of tubing

at Deep Creek in Bryson City, where the rush of the waters mirrored the exhilarating flow of life’s challenges and the joy of overcoming them together. No Earliteen camp meeting week would be complete without going out on the water!

Throughout the week, the Earliteen program exemplified the transformative power of collective

experiences rooted in faith. It was a journey of self-discovery, fellowship, and a deeper understanding of the message encapsulated in the theme “More of You, Less of Me.” As the participants return to their daily lives, they carry with them the memories of a week well spent and the spiritual insights that

will continue to make Jesus the focal point of their lives. This was made possible by the efforts of the Earliteen staff.

The Holy Spirit used many individuals to be a blessing this week in various ways, with each doing their part to carry the load. Abby Ackerman helped with fascinating science experiments and testimonies. Devin Lilly encouraged the youths to learn Bible memory verses. Shelby Lucas prepared for the “junk war” activity, while Nick Wanovich and Josias Flores led the youth in afternoon programs. Together, each staff member shared in leading music, prayer, and activities that made the

week special. Of special note is Tim Cove, the facilitator for this year’s Earliteen camp meeting

week. This Spirit-filled week of fun and adventure would not have been possible without these

and many other individuals. Thank you!
