Tackling Taboo Topics

In Christian circles, the topic of sexuality and sexual identity is often considered taboo and tends to go undiscussed. However, this controversial topic is exactly what Mike Carducci and Ron Woolsey address regularly. Co-founders of ‘Coming Out’ Ministries, Carducci and Woolsey share their testimonies as men who have come out of active homosexual backgrounds and are now in ministry.

Their Camp Meeting sessions attract attendees from all age groups, including parents with children, teens, young adults, and seniors, all interested in learning about this topic that affects families worldwide. Resources are provided for families seeking guidance on how to best relate to family members and friends who are gay, questioning, or part of the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, plus) community.

Woolsey, a recently retired pastor and lifelong musician, spoke to an attentive audience Tuesday. His testimony is one of childhood trauma at the age of four that prematurely introduced him to sexuality.

He drew parallels between his early exposure to sexual knowledge and the experience of children in public schools who are unwittingly exposed to concepts that may lead them into knowledge and encounters that are not age appropriate.

The vision of ‘Coming Out’ Ministries is “to ignite an unquenchable movement restoring all back men and women back to the image of their Creator God.” Their mission statement declares: “We hear a

sea of voices screaming for acceptance, but in their pain failing to see their need of intimacy with God that alone can bring true belonging. ‘Coming Out’ Ministries meets this crisis by sharing their personal journeys, compassion, and the truth of God to bring restoration and liberty to those struggling with sexuality, identity, or brokenness.”
